Probability is simply a way of describing how likely something is to happen. It is one of the most important ideas behind casino games because every game has possible outcomes with different chances of occurring.

What Does Probability Mean?

If you place a straight-up bet on a particular number, there is one winning pocket out of 37.

This does not mean the number will appear once every 37 spins. It simply means that each individual spin has a probability of approximately 2.70% for that particular number.
Probability Does Not Predict the Next Result
This is an important point.
Suppose a roulette number has not appeared for many spins. Its probability on the next spin does not automatically increase because it has been absent.
Each new spin has its own outcome.
For a fair European roulette wheel, a particular number still has a 1-in-37 probability on the next spin, regardless of what happened on previous spins.
This is one reason why past results should not automatically be treated as a prediction of future results.

Slots use probability differently from roulette.
A modern slot can contain many symbols, reels, paylines and special features. The game’s mathematical model determines how frequently different outcomes can occur and how much those outcomes pay.
